Section 28 :
Saving as respects manner of killing prescribed by religion :
Nothing contained in this Act shall render it an offence to kill any animal in a manner required by the religion of any community.

Insertion of new section 28A.―After section 28 of the principal Act, the following shall be inserted, namely:―
“28A. Savings in respect of “Kambala” or “Bulls race or Bullock cart race” :
Nothing contained in this Act, shall apply to “Kambala” or “Bulls race or Bullock cart race” conducted to follow and promote tradition and culture and such conduct of “Kambala” or “Bulls race or Bullock cart race” shall not be an offence under this Act.”

Maharashtra :
Insertion of section 28A in 59 of 1960 :
After section 28 of the principal Act, the following section shall be inserted, namely:―
“28A. Saving in respect of bullock cart race :
Nothing contained in this Act shall apply to the bullock cart race conducted in accordance with the provisions or sub-section (2) of section 3 to follow and promote tradition and culture and such conduct shall not be an offence under this Act.”.
