Mischief by killing or maiming animal :

Classification of Offence:
Offence : Mischief by killing or maiming animal.
Punishment : Imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both.
Cognizable or Non-cognizable : Cognizable
Bailable or Non-bailable : Bailable
Compoundable or Non-compoundable : The owner of the animal.
By Which Court Triable : Magistrate of the first class.

Whoever commits mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any animal shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both.

Section 428 :
Mischief by killing or maiming animal of the value of ten rupees:

Offence: Mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any animal of the value of 10 rupees or upwards.
Punishment :Imprisonment for 2 years, or fine, or both.
Cognizable or Non-cognizable :Cognizable
Bailable or Non-bailable :Bailable
Compoundable or Non-compoundable : The owner of the animal.
By Which Court Triable :Any Magistrate

Whoever commits mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any animal or animals of the value often rupees or upwards, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.
Section 429 :
Mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc. of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees:

Classification of Offence:
Offence: Mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any elephant, camel, horse, etc., whatever may be its value, or any other animal of the value of 50 rupees or upwards.
Punishment :Imprisonment for 5 years, or fine, or both.
Cognizable or Non-cognizable : Cognizable
Bailable or Non-bailable :Bailable
Compoundable or Non-compoundable : The owner of the cattle or animal.
By Which Court Triable : Magistrate of the first class
