Punishment for wrongful confinement:

Offence: Wrongfully confining any person.
Punishment :Imprisonment for 1 year, or fine of 1000 rupees, or both.
Cognizable or Non-cognizable :Cognizable
Bailable or Non-bailable :Bailable
Compoundable or Non-compoundable : The person restrained or confined.
By Which Court Triable :Any Magistrate.

Whoever wrongfully confines any person shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees, or with both.
