२९.वाक्प्रचार :
(Phrases)
विशिष्ट भाव व्यक्त करण्यासाठी भाषेमध्ये विशिष्ट रचना केलेले शब्दसमूहास वाक्प्रचार म्हणतात. पुष्कळ क्रियापदे जेव्हा शब्दयोगी अव्यय अथवा क्रियाविशेषण यांच्यासह येतात तेव्हा त्यांना वाक्प्रचाराचा अर्थ प्राप्त होतो.
उदाहरणार्थ :
Please hear me out.
म्हणजे माझे म्हणणे शेवटपर्यंत ऐक असा अर्थ मिळतो.
काही वाक्प्रचार व त्यांचा वाक्यात उपयोग -
A bosom friend : जिवलग मित्र.
Rama is my bosom friend.
A chicken-hearted fellow : भित्रा माणूस
Vilas is a chicken hearted fellow.
A couple of : दोन, जोडी
After a couple of days, Amit take rest from work.
A great deal of : पुष्कळ
There was a great deal of controversy about it.
A lot of : भरपूर, पुष्कळ
All of a sudden there was a lot of noise.
Armed with : च्या ने सुसज्ज
They came armed with knives and clubs.
As a result of : चा परिणाम म्हणून

at all cost : काहीही करुन, चा त्याग करुन, वाटेल ती किंमत देऊन

A bone of contention : भांडणाचे कारण.
This bunglow is a boone of contention between the two brothers.
To take a leaf out of one's book : अनुकरण करणे.
The young men love to take a leaf out of their favoutrite hero's book.
Bread and butter : उदरनिर्वाहाचे साधन असणे.

To put one's head together : विचारविनिमय करणे.

To read between the lines : गर्भितार्थ शोधणे

In the nick of time : अगदी योग्य वेळी

Out of the wood : धोक्यातून सहीसलामत सुटणे.
